What the Remediation Process Looks Like
We start by identifying and fixing the moisture source — there's no point removing mold if the same conditions will just grow it back. From there we set up physical containment (plastic sheeting and negative air pressure) to keep spores from spreading into unaffected parts of the home, run HEPA air scrubbers throughout the work, and remove porous materials that have absorbed mold growth and can't be fully cleaned, like drywall, carpet, or insulation. Non-porous surfaces are cleaned and treated rather than replaced.
What Affects Cost and Scope
The size of the affected area, how long the moisture problem went unnoticed, whether mold has spread into wall cavities or HVAC ductwork, and what materials are involved all factor into scope. A small, recently discovered patch behind a bathroom vanity is a very different job than mold that's been growing inside a wall for months after an undetected leak.

Can I just clean the mold myself with bleach?
Surface cleaning doesn't address mold inside porous materials or the moisture source causing it, so it typically comes back. Remediation removes affected material and fixes the cause.
Do I need a mold test before remediation?
Not always — visible mold with a known moisture source can often go straight to remediation. Testing is more useful for verifying a space is clear afterward or for real estate transactions.
How do I know if I need mold remediation or just cleaning?
Small areas of surface mold on a non-porous surface (like tile) can sometimes be cleaned. Mold on porous materials, mold covering a larger area, or mold tied to a moisture source behind a wall generally needs professional remediation to be handled safely and completely.
Is mold remediation covered by insurance?
It depends on the cause — mold resulting from a sudden, covered event (like a burst pipe) is more likely to be covered than mold from a long-term maintenance issue like a slow, unaddressed leak. We can provide documentation either way.
